THE government will intensify efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s halal industry by enhancing collaboration between Jabatan Kemajuan Islam (Jakim), Halal Development Corp (HDC) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade).
“Jakim will recruit 100 additional auditors and upgrade the MYeHALAL system to consolidate 20 government agencies and 100 international certification bodies under one platform,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced during the tabling of Budget 2025.
Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) and Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Bhd (SME Bank) will offer nearly RM600 million in financing for halal micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Bhd (SJPP) will guarantee up to 80% of loans with a total guarantee value of RM1 billion.
“Matrade has been tasked with driving the capacity development of more halal enterprises to boost their competitiveness,” he said.
