Tell us how you started?
I started my career as a sales representative, selling supplements to pharmacy in northern region. I was promoted as area manager after 3 years of covering more states and eventually became the youngest country sales manager for a period of 6 years.
Then, I decided to venture into business in 2012 as an independent pharmacy. We started to distribute products exclusively only to the independent pharmacies.
At the same time, we also launch our own products according to the pharmacy`s preference/ request.
What is the strength of your company?
We provide thorough advice to accommodate the requirement by the customers. The products quality is our top priority with reasonable price.
In addition, we ask for feedback from our customers to further improve our products and services with the intention to produce more good products.
Our company will appoint international health institution to conduct clinical studies on our products for endorsement to ensure the supplements are safe to be consumed.
We will also train our sales executives and assign each of them to handle and focus a specific product.
Currently, we are exporting our products to Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore as well as Nepal.
What was your challenges facing during the Covid-19 pandemic?
During the pandemic, customers were looking for immunity products only. We had to focus on our immunity products range and at the same time educate people on how to become healthier from our own magazines.
We prepared templates for pharmacists to be shared to their customers through digital communication platform such as Whatsapp so that customers can enquire and purchase the products from there.
During the Covid-19 period, we faced a lot of new competitors. We have to establish our branding and confidence level of the customers by selling effective product to differentiate us from others.
Besides that, digital platforms are also being utilised to market our products at e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada from our authorised and genuine resellers.
What would be your advice to new entrepreneurs out there?
Building and maintaining a good relationship with distributors to promote your products is the most efficient way to elevate your brand.
Financial planning is as important as sales. Get the right talents to work with you when your business is growing.
Your staff is your asset and they must be treated equally to motivate them. You need to have a proper planning and dare to think big, instill a target that can be achieved.
What are your future plans for Truelifesciences Sdn Bhd?
Looking at the current business environment, you need to partner with other companies in order to grow your company.
Currently we have a joint venture with a listed company for a new brand namely Ancom Truelife to target mass market. We are in the midst of discussing with Watson as well to sell our products in their outlets but under a separate brand for the mass market.
We do invest a portion of our profits into research and development, talents, branding and marketing as well in order to grow our business.
