Standard Chartered Extends BNM Financial Relief For Malaysian SMEs

Standard Chartered Malaysia has stepped up efforts to assist SMEs including micro-enterprises, through Bank Negara Malaysia’s SME Stabilisation Relief Facility.

The SME SRF, part of BNM’s broader RM5 billion financing initiative for affected SMEs, is a dedicated financing facility established to help viable businesses manage their short-term cash flow disruptions, as well as sustain operations amid the economic uncertainties arising from the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Under the facility, eligible businesses may obtain financing of up to RM750,000 for a tenure of up to five years, at a maximum financing rate of 3.75% per annum, inclusive of guarantee fee. The financing is supported by guarantees of up to 80% from Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) or Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Berhad (SJPP), particularly for SMEs without sufficient collateral. Applications are open from 15 May 2026 until 31 December 2026, or until the facility is fully utilised.

Mushahid Syed, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Head of Coverage, and Chief Financial Officer, Standard Chartered Malaysia, said: “Through the SME SRF, we are committed to supporting eligible clients with practical financing solutions and to working closely with them as they navigate near-term uncertainty. We also encourage businesses facing financial stress to engage us early to explore support options.”
